TSA stands for "Triplet Super Apochromat" and it represents the latest in Takahashi's superb continuing lineup of super Apochromatic refractors. Initial production is scheduled to run from March or April 2006 and 2 versions will be made available : the TSA102N which has fixed dewshield and the TSA102S which is shorter since it is equipped with retractable dewshield. Both OTA feature Takahashi optics of the highest order : see the spot diagrams and technical design links below. Both models are also equipped with large 2.7 inch focusers and its capabilities can be further enhanced with accessories such as the TOA reducer for deep sky imaging. The TOA 35 Flattener can also be used to achieve flat field performance for photographic applications on film or CCD. The retractable model makes for an ideal travel scope and whether you use the instrument visually or for photographic or CCD imaging of planetary or deep sky, the TSA102S (and the TSA102N) may well be the perfect scope for you.
